Background and Training:
 
Micki Washburn graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rice University in Houston Texas, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Psi Chi honor societies.  She went on to receive her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake.  She then completed post -graduate work in Counseling Psychology at New Mexico State University.  
 
Upon return to Houston, Micki worked for a local non-profit community based organization doing counseling and education for individuals with HIV and/or substance abuse issues.  She has conducted educational seminars on these topics at both State and National conventions. She has also conducted continuing education presentations on a variety of topics related to counseling and psychological issues.  Contact her via email to schedule a presentation for your group or agency.
 
Micki's private practice specializes in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders as well as LGBT therapy. She has served as an Adjunct Instructor for the Houston Community College System and at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.  Micki is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of Houston, with a research focus on Evidence Based Practice, Interdisciplinary Mental Health Care and Cultural Competency in Mental Health Treatment.
