Micki Washburn, PhD
Micki graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rice University in Houston Texas, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She went on to receive her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She then completed post -graduate training in Counseling Psychology at New Mexico State University. Micki has a PhD in Social Work from the University of Houston.
Micki began her professional career in 2005 working with a local community based organization providing counseling and education for individuals with co-occurring HIV and mental health and/or substance abuse issues. She then went on to open a private practice in East Houston
Micki has experience working with individuals from a diversity of backgrounds. She employs techniques from a variety of cognitive and behaviorally based interventions which have been supported by research evidence to be effective for depression & anxiety. Her areas of expertise include gender identity/gender expression, the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, self-injury, men's mental health and borderline personality as well as working with the LGBTQ and military service communities. She is a member of WPATH, The Council on Social Work Education, and the Society for Social Work Research
Micki is not currently taking on any new therapy clients, however she is still providing assessment and support for those wishing to begin HRT and/or have GRS/GAS.
